Back in February, I was lucky to be able to exhibit at the Toasted SF event at the General's Residence at Fort Mason Center.
What a fun and wonderful group those Toasted Wedding gals are! For those who may not know, the Toasted crew spends the early part of their wedding season touring some big cities around the US, giving couples alternative versions of wedding pros with a more fun and approachable spin.
I adore the smaller wedding show model because it allowed me (Papillon Floral) to be myself. I clean up well, but I'm much better when I get to let my inner Frida Kahlo go wild - and wild I did! I chose a sort of French garden in a Mexican barrio looking booth for my vision of what an alternative ceremony backdrop could be. I used lots of orchids, air plants and pretty flowers in hot colors. My wearable necklace was also a big hit.
The stormy rain kept the attendance numbers lower this year, but the connections I made from the event continue to pay off. Not to mention we had an absolute blast being next to a collective of girl DJ's (Heart of Gold DJs), who kept us dancing and the champagne I served to keep us hydrated.
If you're a wedding pro - check out Toasted or another Sonoma Wedding Collective favorite, The Lab Event. They send out applications in fall and winter, so get on their lists early.
